In the internet and SEO game content is king, especially when you are going for the organic approach. For an effective blogging strategy there are 7 main areas of focus, these areas are –

Plan, Research, Write, Upload, Promote, Measure and Manage.

Plan

blogstrategyThe most important step to creating a reliable blogging strategy is to create a publishing and editorial schedule and plan. This is to help hone in on what you want to say and what action steps are needed to accomplish the plan. One thing to note is when a plan is developed, consistency matters.

Research

Statistics show that there are approximately 3-Million new blogs each month.  Of course we can only take that number with a grain of salt because that number is based on an abundance of diverse industries that span the world.  Because we want to reach our specific market the best strategy is to be on top of popular industry trends as well as popular keywords and key phrases.

Write

First we will identify who will write the blogs on a consistent matter. It is smart to explore all options, such as an in house dedicated person, a ghost bloggers and also guest blogging opportunities, or perhaps a combination of all these approaches. Once the plan and strategy is laid out the writing part should be simple and enjoyable.

Upload

This step seems like a no brainer, but it is important to do it correctly and strategically.  Simply just throwing the blog content into WordPress (or your unique blogging platform) just doesn’t cut it.  It is imperative that you take the time to correctly format the content and images properly.  Furthermore, taking the time to ensure appropriate Meta SEO data and image alt tags are set in place.

Promote

This is the step most people miss. No matter how great your blog is, if you don’t promote it you’re missing a huge opportunity to capture your customer’s attention and cultivate an engaging relationship. The main focus for promotion will be through major social network channels, on blog bookmarking and directory sites and established affiliate channels.

Measure

Once we have developed a strong blogging strategy the next step is to measure the results. Analyze what is working and what might need additional TLC.

 Manage

To simply state the above won’t do the trick, there needs to be action!  A dedicated person should be appointed to spearheading the process and project management of your blog strategy.  It is no simple task to make sure that all pieces are moving and at a consistent and optimal level.  A blog strategic manager will ensure that everything is on track and the wheels keep on moving.

Video blogging is a relatively new concept and has not yet taken off, as compared to text or image blogging. One of the reasons for this is that it requires you to master post-production skills e.g. editing, sequencing, adding background scores, adjusting the sound and so forth, just to produce a fairly decent video.

If you haven’t met much success with text or photo blogging, then maybe it’s time you give vlogging a shot. Who knows, you might be the next video blog celebrity!
